We strive to keep our prices as reasonable as possible for the time we need to spend putting  a mirror, razor sharp edge on your knife.  We can sharpen any kitchen knife including paring knives, chef knives, carving knives, serrated, pocket knives and Cleavers.

A sharp knife is a safe knife. It takes less pressure and requires less effort to complete your task from slicing meats to cutting vegetables. Heavy arm or wrist pressure with a dull knife can cause the blade to jump or slip as it tears through, and that’s how accidents happen. The best way to keep a knife sharp is to wash it by hand with hot soapy water as soon as you’re done using it, and then give each side of the blade two or three strokes on a steel. It’s like an emery board. It defines the edge, but doesn’t set or create an edge.

Never put your knives in the dishwasher because the extremely high temperature of the drying cycle ruins the temper of the steel, which affects the knife’s ability to keep an edge. The dishwasher also can dry out and ruin your wooden handles. We use Professional Block oil to restore and re-lustre your wooden handles.  We use a wet stone slow moving so that temperature is never an issue. It allows for the least amount of metal removal and retains metal strength and integrity. This may be your first proper edge, ever! Nicks removed and tips restored. We can take hard-worked blades that seem lost and make them better than new.

Sharp knives get used more. Truly sharp blades are safer, easier, and more enjoyable to use.

One warning: Once you experience a truly sharp blade you’ll never let it get dull!knives

Serrated Blade Sharpening

There is a myth that serrated edges cannot be sharpened. How untrue!  Sometimes a serrated blade only needs to be re-sharpened since the serrations are well defined. We also use “rat-tail” files to rehone the interior serrations edge so that your serrated knife is as sharp as can be.
